Water Based Concrete Curing Compound
(MNC-Y)
Product Description
MNC-Y is water based concrete curing compound is based on low viscosity wax emulsion concrete curing compounds containing an alkali reactive emulsion breaking system. The system forms a continuous non-penetrating film on cementitious surfaces preventing excessive water evaporation leading to more efficient cement hydration thereby reducing shrinkage and increasing durability.
Standards Compliance
MNC-Y complies with the requirements of the following standards:ASTM C 309 – 98a
Uses
- As a spray applied membrane to retain moisture in concrete for effective curing
- Suitable for all general concreting applications of particular benefit for large area concrete surfaces, such as airport runways, roads and bridgeworks and for precast units.
Typical Applications & Advantages
- Reduces drying shrinkage and resultant cracking.
- Designed for use where water is scarce or not readily accessible.
- Increased durability through greater curing efficiency.
- Single component, easy to apply.
- High curing efficiency.
Typical Properties
Appearance : Turbid pale yellow liquid
Specific Gravity : 0.99 @ 25± 2℃
Non-volatile content: 12.2%

Instructions for Use
MNC-Y should be spray applied as evenly as possible to the freshly placed concrete. Hold the nozzle of the spray approx. 500mm from the concrete surface and pass back and forth ensuring complete coverage. Maintain the pump pressure at a sufficient level to produce a fine spray. On horizontal surfaces, apply MNC-Y as soon as the initial surface sheen has disappeared from the concrete face. For formed concrete, apply MNC-Y as soon as formwork is struck. Rate of coverage will depend on particular circumstances but will generally be 5-6 m2 / litre / coat.
Breakdown of the film will commence after approx. 30 days and will take up to 6 months for total disintegration to occur, dependent on factors such as porosity of concrete, weather conditions, film thickness etc. Where subsequent coatings are to be applied to the concrete, the residual MNC-Y may be removed by mechanical means.
Packaging & Storage
MNC-Y is available in 20 litre and 210 litre drums and it has a minimum shelf life of 12 months provided it is stored under cover, out of direct sunlight.
Health & Safety Precautions
MNC-Y does not fall into the hazard classifications of current regulations. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable protective gloves and goggles should be worn. Splashes on the skin should be removed with water. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed seek medical attention immediately do not induce vomiting.
